![]() ![]() It's more akin to Dragon Warrior Monsters, but even then, not really. Disgaea has more systems at work in general whereas Siralim has the 'player wizard' layer. In terms of progression, it is on par with Disgaea, not much more or less complex. So, while the core of the combat is like old final fantasies (attack, defend, cast), the synergies and combination building is much more complex. The main difference is that this game takes it all to the extreme. Just like old jrpgs, you can either optimize or grind for power. It is very similar to Disgaea in the 'infinite progression' feeling, and any old jrpg in terms of combat (think 2D Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest). If you are looking for a narrative or clear finish to the game, this isn't for you. ![]() If you like seeing numbers working up, gathering more stuff, monsters, achievements, levels, whatever, this is your type of game. Incremental progression is the joy of the game. For other people, the game is almost a clicker, just mashing through enemies for incremental progression. If you are the type of player that wants to 'beat the mechanics', then you'll need to optimize. The game is largely based in your own pacing. I've been playing Siralim since the original (to advanced levels), and I've never had to calculate. If you aren't, you just won't go as deep as quickly. If you are optimized, you'll dive deeper in realms (difficulty levels). The difficulty of the game scales to your power. Siralim doesn't require a lot of calculations or theory-crafting. So i think in the end calling it pokemon-like or not will be a personal thing ,and, as i said i understand why you don't The game conceptually is very far way from pokemon, i mean in terms of story, world and themes they are really their own things, but i think it have lots of similarities to be linked to it in some ways too, maybe gameplay wise ( turn bases rpg where you collect ,train, fuse and battle monster that you find around the world) I was watching some alpha gameplay ( in a pokemon you tube channel, the guy even hashtaged it as "pokemon") There ARE a couple of similar mechanics, but I could never be paid enough money to call this "Pokemon-like." I strongly disagree with the addition of the phrase "Monster catching RPG" on this title, as it's misleading: if anything, the series is closer to something like Enchanted Arms in regards to obtaining new creatures.
